I met Mike nearly 4 years ago in Lexington at the Blue Dog Bash as he campaigned for Tim Kaine, Leslie Byrne, Creigh Deeds and David Cox. He spoke before I did, and it was a very tough act to follow. He is a strong, impassioned advocate for progressive initiatives and the importance of making the office of Lieutenant Governor more than a waiting room for wanna-be governors.
I have not previously made an endorsement in this race, mostly because I felt either Jon or Mike would be an excellent choice compared to the other candidate in the race. I do not believe Democrats should nominate someone so closely involved with the poor financial planning in Richmond over the last several years, nor do I think a low-energy, experience-heavy campaign will defeat Bill Bolling.
After all, if a campaign is about experience, why throw out the incumbent? We should instead focus on a fresh approach to the LG's office and its occupant.
If you haven't already, please visit Mike's website at www.mikesigner.com and sign up to help him over the next few weeks. We need to get the word out about the important choice facing Virginia Democrats June 9.
Vote for Mike Signer. Only a progressive message of change and vision can beat Bill Bolling. |
