Today, instead of attending Shad Planking, Creigh Deeds visited southwest Virginia and talked to voters. In the evening, he held a fundraiser in Blacksburg at Delegate Shuler's house. Both Deeds and Delegate Shuler spoke at the fundraiser, as well as Congressman Rick Boucher.
The event was well attended, and the house was packed. Creigh's campaign let college students attend the fundraiser for free, which I think is a great way to get students involved in this race. Accordingly, there were several Young Dems at the event.
There was definitely a measurable anti Terry Mcauliffe sentiment in the room. When Creigh spoke, he emphasized his experience running statewide as well as his roots in Bath County. He talked about the story of David and Goliath, and noted that he was running against two candidates from inside the beltway. He also stressed that southwest Virginia is a very important region to him.
Creigh attributed the amount of cash on hand his campaign currently has to good management and experience running in a statewide race before, and argued that this is why he is the candidate that can win in November.
Quote of the night? "Bob McDonnell is smart, well spoken, smooth...and wrong, on just about everything." --Creigh Deeds.
*Note* I am a proud supporter of Brian Moran for Governor.
